BRIC= Brazil,Russia,India, China. A term first coined by Goldman Sachs Investment Bankers. It is drawing attention to the phenomenal economic growth of these countries. Goldman Sachs are forecasting that by the year 2050 BRIC will be the largest economy in the world. Brazil for instance has weathered the global economic downturn much better then most countries. In fact its the largest economy in South America. Creative management , politics and business knowhow have helped tremendously. What do all these countries have in common? Hosting of major international events such in Brazil the 2016 olympic games, 2014 worldcup soccer, Carnival in Rio, attracting huge numbers of international visitors and international businesses setting up shop in Brazil. A major oil discovery has also added to this . The middle class of Brazil has more disposable income and is spending freely. In Russia its the same , the olympic games of 2016 in Sochi is attracting worldwide attention business opportunities are in abundance, in addition the russian government is actively seeking to host the 2018 worldcup soccer matches and the eurasian song festival, again attracting large numbers of international businesses.China has already hosted the olympic games in Beijing and is a powerhouse of finance and manufacturing , as indeed is India.
Through carefully orchestrated forward planning and a willingness to co-operate with other countries a financial reward is in the making for the population of those countries. Needless to ask, how would this effect the balance of power in the world? Is the western world doomed? At least financially. Do we need better leadership in the western world, only time will tell
